Who we are

That's a Dog! (TAD) is a dog breed spotting app built by Faulk, available at thatsa.dog. We're not here to hoover up your data — we're here to help you tick off breeds and gloat about it to your pals.

What we collect

• Email address — so you can actually get back into your account (and so you're not just a stranger with a pile of dog logs)
• Display name — whatever you picked to look good on the leaderboard
• Location data — only when you tap "Locate me" while logging a sighting. We turn your coordinates into a readable place name and leave it there. No background tracking, no creeping.
• Sighting data — the breed, location, notes, date and time for every dog you log
• Photos — only if you choose to upload one

How it's stored

Your account and sighting data live securely in Google Firebase. Photos live in Cloudinary. Both are established, reputable services — we didn't knock this together in someone's shed.

Who can see your data

• Your individual sightings and locations are always private — only you can see the details of what you've logged
• Your headline stats (breeds spotted, total logs) and badges aren't private — they show on your profile to pals, and can also appear on the public Global leaderboard if you're a top spotter
• If you upload a photo when logging a dog, it may appear in the Pals Feed — but only to your mutual pals (people you follow who also follow you back). We only show your display name and the breed alongside the photo — never your location or notes
• Mutual pals can "heart" your feed photos. There are no comments on photos
• Photos attached to sightings may be publicly accessible via Cloudinary and can stick around even if you delete the log
• The people behind TAD can access stored content if we need to moderate something

Your rights & account deletion

Want to delete a sighting? You can do that any time, right there in the app.

Want us gone completely? Here's how:

• Email faulk.admin@gmail.com with the subject line "TAD Account Deletion Request"
• Include the email address linked to your That's a Dog! account
• We'll sort it within 30 days

Once it's done, this goes with it:

• Your account and login details (held in Firebase)
• Your display name, sighting logs, stats and badges
• Any photos you've uploaded (held in Cloudinary) — flag it in your email if you'd like these removed too

After that, we won't be holding onto any of your personal data. Firebase and Cloudinary may keep anonymised or technical bits and pieces in line with their own policies — that part's outside our hands.

Reporting inappropriate content

Spotted something that shouldn't be there? Email faulk.admin@gmail.com with the subject line "TAD Content Report", tell us what's up, and we'll take a look and sort it as soon as we can.

Cookies

No tracking cookies here. Firebase might set a cookie or two just to keep you logged in.

Changes to this policy

We might tweak this as the app grows. If we do, we'll update the date up top so you know something's changed.
